③ 전통 법제 / 조선의 법과 재판

이곳에서는 시간을 거슬러 올라가 우리 조상들의 전통 법제도에 대해 살펴봅니다. 

과거 우리 조상은 기원전 2333년 고조선 시대에서부터 법에 따른 처벌을 행하였습니다. 하지만 삼국시대를 거쳐 고려시대에 이르기까지

그때그때 필요한 법을 수시로 제정하거나 외국의 법을 받아들여 사용했기 때문에 통일법전을 통한 예측 가능한 통치는 기대할 수 없었습니다.

그러다 조선 초기 성종이 경국대전을 편찬함으로써 드디어 국가적으로 통일된 법전을 갖춘 법제도를 운영할 수 있게 됩니다. 

③ Traditional Legal System

The Laws and Trials in Choseon Dynasty

Now, we will take a little trip back to the past, to take a look at the traditional legal systems of our ancestor's times.

It was in the Era of Gojoseon, that is B.C. 2333, when Koreans first adopted the concepts of punishment by law.

But, after coming of Samguk Era till Goryeo Era,

We made laws on the fly when we needed, or borrowed the provisions of laws from other countries.

So, there was no unified code of law that could give people expectable rule of law. 

Later, King Seongjeong of Choseon Dynasty published Gyoungukdaejeon, the first full code of laws,

which finally allowed Korea to run a unified, integrated legal system over her territory.
